Chinese writing teacher

I wonder how writing teacher from China will react to the ideas present by the summer institute. Learning writing has not been a pleasant experience for me. I had always been hated writing, since it was so hard. Now it is still hard, but I am starting to like writing a little bit everyday. Isn’t it a big change for me?
I seldom visited Chinese website where teachers exchange their ideas. Today, when I was browsing the web, some sites attracted me. Check this out: a writing teacher in China talking about how she motivated students (Sorry it is in Chinese).

When I think about moving to Switzerland, I realize how sheltered I am. When I look at Swiss websites, there is almost always a button on the site that changes the entire site into English. I don’t usually see a button on websites that would translate everything into English. The last time we were in Switzerland and my husband had to teach a class, he just taught it in English. Can you imagine if a professor came to the US and started teaching in Chinese or German or Spanish in a history or mathematics class? I know that I will have an easier adjustment moving to Switzerland while speaking English than many students at the university had when they moved to America. Still I’m worried. I don’t want to speak only English with people in Switzerland and I know that my German isn’t very good. I also don’t want to spend my year feeling like the rude American. Here’s hoping I make as good an adjustment as you have.

I don’t particularly care for writing either. This class has been exciting and is making me write more. So…maybe the more you write, the more you will like it. Elaine
